Israeli Irony

One of my favorite things about living in Israel and reading news stories about Israel is the ironies involved with having so much important religious history running amok under the surface.

Here's a story about a new archeological find, that turned up because the Israeli Prison system wanted to expand the prison at Meggido (Armaggedon). No joke.

Yeah I saw that on CNN this morning... now are they actually going to move the prison... or is this new potential Christian tourist attraction going to sit in the shadow of a prison... ah the irony.

well, seeing as how they had prisoners in TENTS because they needed more space and then sent them digging under the concrete to build a barracks...
I bet they'll have to move the prison.
There'll have to be some serious lobbying first though.

Exactly!
That's what I find so ironic!
Here is this beautiful church, the oldest known so far, a revolution to what was previously thought of as the establishment of Christian Churches in Palestine, and it's buried under a prison.
There's so much in Israel that are these layers of old and new and Jewish/Christian/Muslim mixes and they're so interesting if only people would let them BE instead of trying to force them to be "Theirs" or something.
