Prop. 2

If you're in Texas, vote against proposition 2 on the ballot this month.

If you're interested in good reasons, I have them. Just ask.

They weren't. They are way too concerned with trying to legislate our morality without any real thought on what this is gonna do in the future. And their just trying to provide language that most people would find as unoffensive as possible so that they'll get as many votes as they possibly can.

You're right Molly, the use of the word "identical" does imply that it'll cause problems for people who choose common-law marriage for example. Dave's got a great set of things on his blog at the moment about it. www.maderblog.com

It's also problematic in application to companies with domestic-partner clauses in their health insurance programs.

I guess it's too bad for those of us who believe everyone should be equal in the eyes of the law, eh Tim?

Maybe govt should just issue everyone civil union licenses, instead of marriage licenses.

That'd be great.

"It does not affect your daily life very much if your neighbor marries a box turtle. But that does not mean it is right. Now you must raise your children up in a world where that union of man and box turtle is on the same legal footing as man and wife." -- John Cornyn

There thats about the only reference I could find that was anti gay marriage that wasn't religous. Thought that was too funny and I had to share
